PADI IE Information
Just as you must earn every PADI certification, PADI Instructors must complete a development program that sets the industry standard for instructor training. Each new PADI Instructor demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the PADI System and the ability to conduct PADI programs by meeting specific criteria. Before earning the PADI Instructor rating, all candidates are evaluated by a select group of PADI-employed Instructor Examiners. This ensures that the evaluation process is objective, fair and consistent worldwide.
After you complete your IDC, you demonstrate what you’ve learned in the PADI Instructor Examination (IE).
Here a PADI Instructor Examiner independently and objectively assesses your knowledge and skills, testing everything from dive theory to PADI training standards. PADI is the only certification organization that requires an objective, independent examination to qualify as a professional instructor. This balanced and consistent evaluation process is one of the hallmarks that makes PADI professionals the most demanded and respected instructors in the dive industry.
What can you expect at a PADI Instructor Examination?
- The IE is an evaluative two-day program conducted by PADI Instructor Examiners. You'll be asked to demonstrate your teaching ability, rescue abilty and understanding of the PADI System and dive theory.
- The IE is pass-Fail.
PADI Instructor Examiners are highly trained professional PADI Course Directors who represent one of PADI's International Offices.
Examiners may offer you helpful suggestions, but their primary jopb is to evaluate your performance.
There's no coaching at an IE, so you must go fully prepared.
Sounds daunting?
